Irina Stancheva - group leader

istancheva@ed.ac.uk

Irina graduated from University of Sofia, Bulgaria, and did her PhD at the Institute of Cell
Biology, ETH Zurich, Switzerland, with Dr Jose M. Sogo. She joined Richard Meehan's
laboratory at the University of Edinburgh in 1997 as a postdoctoral scientist and in 2002
became a  Carcer Research UK Senior Research Fellow and established her lab at the School
of Biomedical Sciences. In 2004, she joined the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology and
became University Reader in 2012. Irina has been studying the role of chromatin and DNA
methylation in epigenetic regulation of gene expression since she started her PhD.
When she is not in the lab, Irina plays tennis or hikes in the mountains.

Anuj Sehgal - postdoctoral scientist

Anuj.Sehgal[at]ed.ac.uk

Anuj geaduated from Heriot-Watt University with honours degree in Biochemistry and
completed his PhD at the Roslin Instuture, University of Edinburgh, in 2016. He joined
the lab in October 2016 to study the role of chromatin remodelining during differentiation
         of commited progenitor cells.

Natalia Torrea - PhD student

N.I.Torrea-Muguerza[at]sms.ed.ac.uk

Natalia studied for her BSc degree in Biochemistry and also for her MSc degree at
the University of Navarre in Pamplona, Spain. After finishing her studies, Natalia
was awarded an International Mobility Grant to train for six months at the Ontario
Cancer Institute, University of Toronto. She joined Stancheva lab as a Darwin Trust-
funded PhD student in 2014 to work on the regulation of DNA methylation
      establishment in mammalian cells.

Christian Belton - PhD student

C.A.Belton[at]sms.ed.ac.uk

Christian graduated from University of Newcastle with 1st class BSc degree in Biomedical
Genetics. During his undergraduate studies Christian worked on several summer projects at the
Institute of Healthy Aging, UCL, and at the University of Tubingen. He joined Stancheva lab in
August 2014 as a MRC funded PhD student and currently studies the epigenetic mechanisms
regulating differentiation of oligodendrocyte precursor cells into mature oligodendrocytes.

Ilaria Amendola - PhD student

R.I.Amendola[at]sms.ed.ac.uk

Ilaria studied for her BSc and MSc degrees in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University
of Torino, Italy. She was accepted to the Wellcome Trust Programme in Cell Biology and
joined Stancheva lab in 2014. Ilaria's PhD project investigates the regulation of DNA
methylation in ES cells and early mouse development.

Britanto Dani Wicaksono - PhD student

B.D.Wicaksono[at]sms.ed.ac.uk

Dani studied for his BSc in Biology at Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia
and MPhil in Medicine at The University of Melbourne, Australia. He joined the
Stancheva Lab in December 2015 as an Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education
(LPDP) funded PhD student. He is currently studying the functions and mechanisms
of DNA methylation reprogramming that occurs following hTERT-induced
     immortalisation in normal human fibroblasts.
